My hubby and I were planning on going to Hawaii for a few days in June.
I was wondering what place is best to stay to get the most out of it.
We want to get do some sight seeing of things like volcanoes and do some water sports. I would also like to check out a luau if possible.
I have heard that Honolulu is a packed city and I don’t know that I want to be there, because I really don’t care for the "big city" aspect of vacationing.
So what would you suggest?

If you dont want the "big city" vaca, dont plan to stay on Oahu (Honolulu, Waikiki) This is all city, all tourists. You will see your volcanos on the Big Island, Luaus on any island (you can find them everywhere) Maui is more laid back and romantic.

101 things to do in Hawaii ~ use yahoo search

My husband and I have been talking about going to Hawaii on vacation in July. We have 3 children who are well behaved that we would be bringing along with us. I understand it is expensive but we are not trying to go Crazily expensive.

Anyhow, I am not to crazy about being around large crowds. I would really like to be in a quite atmosphere with beautiful scenery. Near (pretty close) to a beach (which is not overwhelmed with alot of people). We just want to relax but all the while make it enjoyable for the children and of course ourselves.

We have been on Vacations before, like the Florida & Carolina Scenes, the theme parks that come along with it and such on. Seems like everytime we go on vacation it ends up so hectic and though we have enjoyed it to an extent, it can be more stressful than the work atmosphere. We have always been so exhausted afterwards from the vacation.

Just to be able to go somewhere (hawaii) beautiful, swim, and just hang out with each other quietly.

Go to the Island of Maui, a little town called Kihei (pronounced "key-hay"). It is near the swanky resort town of Waialea, but it is low key and not dominated by the big resort hotels. It should be a little less expensive than Kapalua and Ka’anapali over on the other side. It is right on the beach and there are numerous hotels and apts/condos that you can rent by the week with lots of reasonable restaraunts and food stores nearby to stock up for the week.

It is very centrally located to the scenic attractions too. It is just a few minutes drive from the Maui Ocean Center and the road up to the top of Haleakula (a 10,000 FT peak with an observatory on top). It is a great drive to the peak and there is even a Bike Tour called Bicycle Bob’s that will let you coast all the way back down to the bottom. It is pretty cool.

There is a black sand beach open to the public about 5 miles to the west and you can get hooked up with any snorkel, surfiing, or fishing excursions from Kihei. Make sure you try the fish tacos at Maui Tacos. They’re pretty good.

We use ebay and I was wondering if sending something to Hawaii costs more when we ship with the standard flat rate shipping boxes via priority mail since Hawaii is an island, or since it is part of the U.S. does it cost the same?

I calculated a flat rate box from MA to both CA & HI and the rate was the same.

Use the USPS postage rate calculator to check for your particular packages. You can also print priority and express postage right from your computer. Get half sheet labels so you can just peel-n-stick.

I have to set up a whole itinerary for a vacation package for Hawaii. Its for a computer class I have, that I have to use the computer to put it all together. In my package I’m going to Turtle beach Resort to stay in the same beach front cottage like in the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Its located on Kamehameha Hwy, Kahuku, HI 96731-2202

I need some fun activity ideas to do while for my package! Would really appreciate the ideas! And name of businesses if you have them!

Get outside yourself and hook-up with a "wild-beach-bunch" and party until the sun comes up !!!

We would like to spend $200 or less on a night – preferbly about 1 block back from wakiki beach. also 4 people so preferably 1 queen and a sofa or maybe 1 queen and 1 king. THANKS!

There are tons of great hotels in Oahu. I’ve had good luck at SpinCityTravel.com. Look under hotels and it will bring up all the available hotels, with features, ammenities and customer feedback. Book air and hotel together and it’s an even better deal

Trying to figure out a December trip, but I live in Colorado and my guests live in New York City and Buffalo, NY. Do I need a travel agent?

You can do the legwork on your own without paying the fees that a travel agent charges.

Use a website like kayak.com, and try to find cheap convenient flights. You may not all arrive in Hawaii at the same time, but with some careful planning you should be able to get yourselves all there relatively near each other.

Booking the hotel should be very easy.
