i need hotel in Waikiki area (a good hotel / not a crappy one) that costs less than $200 a night
and i need a good hotel in Maui and on the island of Hawaii.
any suggestions from personal experience?? thanks!!

In Waikiki, the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani is a good bet. You can get even an ocean-view room for a bit less than $200 and the location is fantastic.

On Hawaii Island, the Hilton is nice but it may be over $200. It’s like a little theme park pretty isolated with about 15 swimming pools and dolphin park if you’re into that. If you’re looking for something in the town of Kailua-Kona, the Kona Islander Inn is nice and only about $100 a night depending on the season.

Haven’t been to Maui yet.

Have a great trip!

The Hotels start about 2 to 3 miles away from UH Manoa. Just go down University Blvd., to Kapiolani, to Kalakaua and Kuhio Ave., it’s not that far.

Not just a hotel–truly a village located on the widest part of Waikiki Beach. The best of Hilton & Waikiki. Vast, beautiful, and friendly. http://Travel-Hawaii.com

My family and I are planning a trip to Hawaii. I am looking at a resort called Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas, PLEASE tell me if this resort is nice and if it is in a nice area!!

I am also taking suggestions on hotels and things to do!!!
Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas …how is this resort?

You seem to be getting a lot of irrelevant answers, so here is the actual answer to your specific question.

The West Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas is a huge new timeshare (not a hotel or a condo, but a timeshare) with gorgeous rooms. But it is expensive and it is not right on the main Kaanapali resort hotel strip (it is just north of that area on the other side of Black Rock), and you will probably encounter salespeople who will try to sell you an overpriced timeshare. Here is a page with a review and photos of that resort:

I would suggest that you instead stay at one of the hotels or condos that are right on the main section of Kaanapali Beach. The hotels there include Sheraton, Westin, and Hyatt. The condos there are Whaler and Kaanapali Alii. Reviews and photos of all of those, and more are in the Hotels-Condos section of

http://www.mauihawaii.org

Things to do on Maui include sightseeing, whale watching (winter only), snorkeling, helicopter tours, luaus, biking, fishing, and eating in great restaurants. There is a Things To Do Section on the above Maui website.

Moderately priced hotel, recently fully remodeled just across the street from Waikiki Beach. Excellent location and rates. One of our favorites. http://Travel-Hawaii.com

Hilton Hawaii Village in Honolulu has a "woman in red" who is supposedly the volcano goddess who roams the grounds.
King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel is haunted by a Hawaiian warrior and the portrait of Queen Liliuokalani is also haunted.
The Kona Lagoon Resort in Keahou.
Ihilani Resort in Oahu
Waikiki Parc Hotel
The airport in Honlulu is also supposed to be haunted, particulary the ladies room near gate 31.

what airline is best, what hotel, what attractions are a must.

Hawaii is a nice place to have a vacation. The best time to go there is winter. If you go to the island of Oahu you will probably want to visit Pearl Harbor, a Polynesian cultural center, royal palaces, pineapple plantation and Hanauma bay. If you go to the Big island you may want to visit the volcano national park and a coffee farm.

Me and my friends are lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel to hawaii this spring and are looking for a very unique hotel. We are very adventurous and want something different than the typical hotel experience, any ideas?

Thanks!

Well, the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki and the Makai Inn in Lahaina are unique in very different ways. I’ve never had the bucks to stay at the first, but I’ve stayed at the second one about seven times. In spite of the hula girls lamps and kitschy decor, I love it. It used to be an apartment complex, and it is right on the water. It is very quiet, so the sound of the ocean waves on the seawall will lull you to sleep.

The Hotel Molokai is unique in several ways. For one thing, it’s the only hotel on the island of Molokai, which does not happen to have any traffic lights. For another, when you’re having a drink or a meal at Hula Shores, the open air restaurant at the beach, it looks like the hotel has the only buildings in the world. There are many other reasons why Hotel Molokai is unique, but if you don’t want to go find out for yourself, you don’t deserve to know.

It ain’t easy to get to Molokai, though. This isn’t the kind of place you can neglect to make proper arrangements and figure you’ll work it out as you go. You have to make it a priority, plan it properly, and not complain too much that it is inconvenient. You can take a propeller plane (9-seater or 30+) from Honolulu (HNL) or Kahului (OGG) or a small ferry from Lahaina. In the spring, the waves shouldn’t be too bad in the channel, and you might even see humpback whales from the ferry.

If you don’t mind youth hostels, the Banana Bungalow is one of the most social spots on Maui for young tourists. Not everybody who stays there is a European in their twenties in the islands for windsurfing or some other sport, but an awful lot of them are. The parking situation in that neighborhood is heinous, but they have free tours everyday and airport shuttles, so it might be a good place to stay at the beginning or end of your trip, and save a little money by skipping the car rental for a few days.
