We use ebay and I was wondering if sending something to Hawaii costs more when we ship with the standard flat rate shipping boxes via priority mail since Hawaii is an island, or since it is part of the U.S. does it cost the same?
I calculated a flat rate box from MA to both CA & HI and the rate was the same.
Use the USPS postage rate calculator to check for your particular packages. You can also print priority and express postage right from your computer. Get half sheet labels so you can just peel-n-stick.

Son lives in Honolulu & wants his girlfriend to taste the Wisconsin cheeses and meats that he grew up with. For us to purchase at store we can get bigger amounts at less prices than the gift shops offer, but, don’t know how to package and whom to use to ship the items. Anyone have a link or info to share? Thank you.
In our area, dry ice is hard to find due to: the gasses it emits, and, because it is so useful for terrorist type activities of destruction & chaos.
LOL waiting for holidays is not an option right now, Son’s birthday is in August and this is what he wants. 
Toilet paper rolls? LOL, not sure if you meant it as an actual suggestion, but, Interesting idea and could possibly work as far as making shipment packed tight, and hold some freezer type jel bags…

I shipped a box that weighs about 6 pounds to Hawaii on March 17th, I used usps parcel mail. I got a confirmation on it and it has said it was processed in Richmond CA on the 21st, it still says this, and it still has not gotten to the destination.
Does shipping to Hawaii usually take this long or should I be worried?
If this is unusual, how would I go about getting the package delivered or returned to me?
It is on a slow boat. When shipping to Hawaii via the USPS always ship "priority" (they have a flat rate box that is not that expensive).

It will be a day or two longer than if you sent it from California, maybe even the same amount of time.
When I vacationed there the Post Office told me mail flies out every day so no real delay with mail to the mainland (it’s only 4-6 hour via air). Same with UPS and Fedex service that’s not "overnight", arrives quickly.
We send stuff home from vacations all the time so we don’t have to pack it. Usually via UPS or Fedex ground to a friends’ business address. These methods provide reliable tracking and some free insurance unlike the sometimes flaky uncooperative USPS (although usually OK, when they are not it’s a nightmare).

I’m booking a week-long trip in October through Orbitz and before I check out they pop up a bunch of features (Luau’s, helicopter rides, transportation, etc). Is it more convenient (and cheaper) to add them along to my reservation or just purchase when I get to Hawaii?
Often you can get the same deals (or better) when you get here. Don’t think you have to be stuck with a package because you it’s easier. If you know how to research and are a good deal hunter, you can often find the same trips, shows, and rides at low prices.
I would wait until you get here to decide what you want to do. There are often more than one company that offer what you’re looking for and they are all competing with each other for your money. I would suggest you pick up the tourist books in the airport when you arrive. They often have some great coupons in there for free/reduced items.
