My family and I would like to vacation in Hawaii this coming winter (November or December) and I want to know what cities and hotels are good places to stay in. I would also like to know what fun activities there are to do.

Well. If you want to eat good Hawaiian food, Highway Inn in Waipahu is a good place to go.

This is where we spent our Hawaii Vacation on Oahu’s Northshore. Very reasonable and very beautiful. You should see some of the still pictures. This is all from the PupuKea beach area…there are alot of nice vacation rentals here and it is so pleasant to walk along the little Ke Iki Road down to Shark’s Cove. There is also a super market with a Starbucks all in walking distance. This is the area between Sunset beach and Upper’s Beach Park’s.

i am planing a vacation with my husband, mom and 14mon old baby to hawaii. i dont know what island to choose, because i dont know much about the islands. i want nightlife, family activies, sightseeing and water activies. does anyone know about the hawaii islands?

Be sure to grab a (name of Island) THIS WEEK.
Its a magazine listing everything going on on that particular island.

Oahu has a lot of activities, but it is mostly over developed theme parks. Honolulu is a big city, and you have to lay upside down to get a tan. The Pipeline and Sunset Beaches are spectacular, but too rough for kids. Pearl Harbor is very moving.

Maui is a more relaxed vacation setting. Quiet beaches and Lahina is a fun town. The drive to Hana is very long and beautiful, and the 7 pools are incredible. Haleakala volcano is amazing at sunrise. Take a boat ride to Molikini for great snorkle/scuba.

Kauai is less developed, & more relaxed.. Nepali coast you can snorkle in the grottos, and Waiamaya Canyon is fabulous.

I like the Big Island the best (Hawaii) The active volcano, black sand beaches and pineapple plantations. But it may be too rugged with a baby and a grandma.

I think Maui is the best island as a base with kids. Try to visit at least 2 islands to get some diversity. You cant see everything unless you are there at least a month.

I’m going on a two-week vacation to Hawaii. What should I bring?
What should I bring BESIDES the obvious?

You can pretty much buy anything you forgot! They have TONS of stores, and its not THAT expensive.

I just got back 2 days ago… I brought waterproof cameras, and lots of sun dresses with flip flops- all i wore!

Even snorkel and fins are pretty cheap to rent, about $9, so you dont need those either…

Edit- OH YEA almost forgot, water shoes! You can get the $6 cheap ones from Walmart :)

“Obama continued his Hawaiian Holiday. Taking in a picturesque round of golf at Kaneohe’s Klipper course at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

“The 18-hole course is described as a ‘golfers paradise.’ The President played a round with four friends, three of them from Hawaii.”

We live in Florida and would like to go on a 10 day vacation to Hawaii or a cruise around the Caribbean. We would like to get the best vacation for our money. We love beaches, waterfalls, snorkeling and water activities.

I visited Hawaii and loved it so much I never went home. Now I work in the travel industry and love it. Also… Hawaii is part of the USA. You can drink the water, spend American dollars, and experience a unique culture. If you don’t go for this vacation, you should go at some point in your life.

I am looking for a website that will tell me about the best attractions to look for on my vacation to Hawaii. I don’t want to do tourist things. I want to do what locals do. Hence, I am looking for a website where I can read about what Hawaii locals do for fun, food that they eat, restaurants they go to, and beaches locals surf at. Please help…

You could start with the visitor bureau web sites for each of the islands, but you’ll find their information to be rather basic and sanitized–none of the "what the locals do" stuff.

If you want to get the best deals, tips, and advice then head over to GoVisitHawaii.com.

The blog is packed full of personalized reviews and is not afraid to tell you what sucks–all of their reviews are unbiased–and what rocks!

They also have lots of tips for seeing Hawaii like a real kamaaina (local) like this one: http://www.govisithawaii.com/2007/06/27/eat-where-the-locals-eat/

I’m preparing a video montage of pictures from my recent Hawaii vacation and want to use a very uptempo Hawaii-esque song. Preferably including a ukulele or Elvis. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Elvis’ Hawaiian works (as wonderful and talented a singer as he was) would hardly classify as "classic Hawaiian". The Beach Boys’ surfing themes centered around the Southern California.
The following songs are very upbeat, includes ukulele, and are modern contemporary classics: Drop Baby Drop, Feel Good Island Music, Aloha Friday, Pata Pata, Masese, Tahiti-Tahiti, Island Style, Ki Taku Poi E, Ua Tofia.
For earlier up-tempo classics, look up works performed by Palani Vaughn, Makaha Sons, Keali’i Reichel, Peter Moon, the Beamer Bros., including Hula Kahiko chants.
