Everything that they said. There are a couple of good golf courses. Surfing is not great in the area but there are a couple of great surf shcools including one run by Rory Russel who is a world champion surfer. Gauranteed to get you up and riding. There are many shows etc in the local hotels but you really need to get out of town and explore the island to have a great time here. Lots to see and do on the island. Just get in your car and go. You’ll have a ball.

Visit the lava flows at the volcano. It will be an experience of a lifetime. It is by far the best thing to do on the BIG island. Bring a flashlight and some hiking shoes. Stay after night falls to see the lava filled cracks on the side of the moutain. Watch the steam fly off the ocean surface when the lava hits the sea. Stand over crevaces that have flowing lava in them. See roadways swallowed up by recent eruptions. Feel the heat!
