I did a lot of research for my upcoming trip, and found that to get something decent, you need to be looking at about $150 or so. For "nice", look at $200 at least. $100 or so per night tend to have a lot of reviews saying the places are substandard in one or more ways.
If you have more people in your group, the nicest place for lowest cost per person is the Embassy Suites, as they have one and two bedroom suites (including a foldout couch), so 6 to 8 people can stay in a room reasonably comfortably. I got a good rate of $130 at Resortquest using Priceline, which normally goes for about $180. References :
alot of prices of hotels depend on when you are staying and are often higher on the weekends
on travelocity.com i found hotels ranging from $69 (Aqua continental) to over $400. most hotels are around 80-100 dollars depending on room type and ammenities.
i found it alot cheaper to book the flight with hotel when i went to hawaii, and i stayed at the Queen kapiolani hotel, its less than 1 block from waikiki beach and about a block from international shopping References :
Good hotels in Oahu are expensive but don’t be put off. try renting a time share, sometimes cheaper and you cook your own food. it’s a wonderful place, full of Japanese people too. References :
I’ve stayed at the Queen Kapiolani. It was a block away from the beach and had a great burger place next door. It was cheap, small, and comfortable for the price. I would stay there again. The staff was friendly and there was an expedia.com desk in the lobby if you wanted to schedule a rental car, excursion, etc. References :
